Visa information
To prepare for your visit to the Netherlands, be aware of the travel requirements. Especially if you are not from the EU. Members of the EU state can travel to the Netherlands with a valid travel document and/or a valid identification document. Non-EU citizens are required to have a valid travel document and typically need a visa to enter the Netherlands. If you are unsure about the visa requirements that apply to you, we advise you to fill out the questionnaire on the website of the Dutch government: https://www.netherlandsworldwide.nl/travel-netherlands. The Netherlands (and Belgium) is part of the Schengen zone, which consists of 27 countries. Essentially, the Schengen zone comprises of most EU countries, except Ireland, Romania, Bulgaria and Cyprus. Non-EU members Norway, Iceland, Switzerland and Lichtenstein are also part of the Schengen zone. If you require a visa to visit the Netherlands, you will have to apply for a short stay Schengen visa. This visa allows you to travel for a maximum of 90 days in any 180-day period in all countries in the Schengen zone. For more information on applying for the Schengen visa in your country of origin, we refer you again to the government website: https://www.netherlandsworldwide.nl/visa-the-netherlands/schengen-visa. Bear in mind that the process of obtaining a visa can take several working weeks!
