You will embark on the challenge of presenting your work in a concise three-minute pitch tailored for a diverse general audience.

Participating in this competition will not only allow you to practice your science communication skills, but also give you the chance to win an exciting prize and earn the prestigious title of "Rising Worm Star." Furthermore, the 10 selected participants, will have exclusive access to a storytelling science workshop and a valuable one-on-one feedback session with Emma Holmes, an entertainment expert!

Experiencing earthworm perspectives (August 27, 15:45-17:45)

As earthworms ecologist, taxonomy and scientists we utilize a wide variety of devices and tools, such as microscopes, laboratory equipment and field campaigns to study these fascinating organisms, and summarizes the knowledge gained through publications, graphs, and tables. Beyond these natural science academic approaches, earthworms can be experienced and appreciated in ways that take into account personal, cultural or sensorial relationships and perspectives.

In order to effectively connect with society and share our work and knowledge about earthworms, we need to develop an appreciation of the diversity in ways that earthworms can be experienced and perceived. During this evening we will provide an informal and relaxed space where we will engage with earthworms in unexpected and creative ways. There will be ‘stations’ dedicated to the experiencing of colors, sounds, tastes, art, visuals and emotions peculiar to earthworms. A moderator will be present at every station, to encourage discussions, conversations and the sharing of stories to inspire us to experience new earthworm perspectives.
