De leerstoelgroep Landschapsarchitectuur van Wageningen Universiteit organiseert een reeks evenementen waarbij professionals, studenten en medewerkers samenkomen: de LAR-Live evenementen.
Deze halfjaarlijkse netwerkmiddagen zijn de perfecte gelegenheid om bij te praten met collega's, inspiratie op te doen en jong talent te ontdekken!

Deze keer hebben we verschillende bijzondere evenementen die plaatsvinden in het Forumgebouw op de campus van Wageningen Universiteit:
 

In de ochtend (tot 15:00) wordt de jaarlijkse Carrièredag georganiseerd door de studievereniging Genius Loci. Dit wordt gevolgd door twee debatten in de middag, georganiseerd door onze MSc-studenten. Deze levendige debatten, in samenwerking met onze collega's uit de praktijk, behandelen de onderwerpen "Human-Centered vs. Ecocentric Design" (in het Nederlands) en "Artificial Intelligence in Landscape Architecture" (in het Engels).
 

Meer informatie over de onderwerpen en de betrokken sprekers volgt nog. We sluiten de dag af met een borrel, waarbij studenten, docenten en professionals samenkomen.
 

Het is een geweldige kans om nieuw talent te spotten, een interessant debat te voeren en bij te praten!

The Landscape Architecture chair group of Wageningen University organizes a series of events in which professionals, students and employees come together: the LAR-Live events.
These biannual networking afternoons are the perfect opportunity to catch up with colleagues, gain inspiration and spot young talent!

This time, we have several special events that will take place in the Forum building on the Wageningen University Campus:
 

In the morning (until 15:00), the annual Career Day will be organized by the study association Genius Loci. This will be followed by two debates in the afternoon, organized by our MSc students. These lively debates, in collaboration with our colleagues from practice, will cover the topics of "Human-Centered vs. Ecocentric Design" (in Dutch) and "Artificial Intelligence in Landscape Architecture" (in English).

More information on the topics and the involved speakers will follow. We will end the day with drinks, bringing together students, teachers, and professionals.

 

It is a great opportunity spot new talent, have an interesting debate and to catch up!

11:00 - 15:00 | Ground floor, Forum | Careermarket organized by st. Genius Loci 

 

13:15 - 14:00 | B0217, Forum | Workshop hosted by Streetlife, organized by st. Genius Loci (Dutch spoken).

Topic: Our presentation will focus on how to make sustainable choices in your landscape design. This can be in the design, technique, or detailing of products/elements. But it can also be in the choice of materials: how can you (amidst the maze of all the rules and tables) calculate the impact your product has on the environment, where the CO2 footprint is just one of 11 factors?

 

13:15 - 14:00 | B0314, Forum | Workshop hosted by Bureau BUITEN, organized by st. Genius Loci (Dutch spoken).

Topic: a short presentation about our company and then get started with the case 't Zoet, a new district in Breda.

 

12:00 - 14:00 Speed date sessions with graduating MSc. students (registration closed), organized by LAR-Live.

 

14:30 – 15:30 | C0222, Forum | Debate “Human-Centered vs. Ecocentric Design”, organized by MSc. students (Dutch spoken).

Antropocentrisme v.s. Ecocentrisme; in landschapsarchitectuur wordt vaak van beide stromingen geleend: een park kan ontworpen worden met het doel om een wijk af te koelen (antropocentrisch) en om meer ruimte te geven aan insecten in de stad (ecocentrisch). Maar welke ontwerp aanpak kan de grote uitdagingen zoals klimaatverandering en biodiversiteit het beste aanpakken? Mensgericht ontwerp, ecocentrisch ontwerp, of een mix van beide?
 

MC: Dr. ir. Martijn Duineveld (Associate Professor at Wageningen University, specializing in urban governance, political power, and the materiality of spatial planning).

Speakers: Elisabeth Floris (Landscape Architect at Eelerwoude), Francine Kronenberg (Landscape Architect at Rijksvastgoedbedrijf), Ludwin Budde (Landscape Architect and Advisor at Dutchplanners), Karin Albers (Ecologist, developer of ecological courses and professional speaker at Naturio), Eugenie van Heijgen (Lecturer at WUR Forest and Nature Conservation Policy Group, WUR-alumna).

 

16:00 – 17:00 | C0222, Forum | Debate “Artificial Intelligence”, organized by MSc. students (English spoken).

There is a new player in the field of landscape architecture, named AI. But what are the consequences? AI might be able to make us more creative and even more human. It helps us create visuals, make comprehensive analyses and is a brainstorming partner. Many see a bright future ahead for designing with these new possibilities. But can AI even approximate the complexities of landscapes? Many landscape architects are already using AI while others avoid it. Maybe the ethical dilemmas will keep us from using AI’s full potential. Will AI generated designs ever surpass human made designs, or is it just another tool that helps us be more efficient?

 

MC: Dr. ir. Rudi van Etteger (Assistant Professor in Landscape Architecture and Spatial Planning at Wageningen University, specializing in the aesthetics of designed landscapes).

Speakers: Ricardo da Silva Torres (Professor of Data Science and Artificial Intelligence at Wageningen University), Dick Scholtus (Landscape Architect and Future City Maintenance for the municipality of Rotterdam), Adriaan Moederijk (Landscape Designer at ZUS), Cosimo Scotucci (Architect and Senior Project Leader at MVRDV).
