Tasting the Future of Food Education

What does the future of food education look like? How can we empower children and teenagers to make healthy and sustainable food choices? And what role do you play in shaping this future? Together, we can make food education an integral part of every child's education.

Join the international Sapere conference Tasting the Future of Food Education on 18-19 November 2026 in Wageningen, the Netherlands. This conference is organized in collaboration with Sapere, Wageningen University & Research (Team Smaaklessen, EU-Schoolfruit & EU-Schooldairy), Jong Leren Eten, JOGG, and the Dutch Nutrition Centre.

About the conference

On 18 and 19 November 2026, the international Sapere conference Tasting the Future of Food Education will take place in Wageningen, the Netherlands. Professionals, policymakers and researchers from across countries will come together to exchange knowledge, experiences and ideas on food education. We will reflect on developments in the international food education landscape and look ahead to the future direction of food education.

On 18 November, you will experience food education in practice through inspiring field visits to a primary school and an educational farm (limited to 50 participants). The programme also features keynote presentations, including contributions from Professor Emeritus of Nutrition and Health Jaap Seidell, offering further insight into current developments in food education. The day concludes with a networking dinner, providing an opportunity to connect with fellow professionals in an informal setting.

On 19 November, Designer Chloé Rutzerveld will inspire you with a session on the future of food and food education, covering topics ranging from AI and insects to cultivated meat. During the plenary presentation, the current state of food education in countries such as the Netherlands and the United Kingdom will be explored, followed by a look ahead at future developments in food education. This is followed by the interactive Future Food Tables, where experiences are exchanged in small groups.

In the afternoon, you can choose from a wide range of practice-oriented breakout sessions, in which current topics are explored in more depth and translated into practical applications for your professional practice. There will also be plenty of opportunity to meet other professionals and exchange experiences.

This registration form is for the full 18–19 November programme. Please note that participation on 18 November is limited to 50 participants and requires a paid ticket. If you wish to attend only the conference on 19 November, you can register free of charge using the separate registration form below.
