Closing the Loop: End-of-Life Solutions for Plastics

Demonstration on different end-of-life routes for plastics & plastic packaging

About the event

Plastic products and packaging can follow different end-of-life (EoL) pathways, each with their own opportunities, limitations and application areas. As the transition towards a circular economy accelerates, understanding these pathways and their practical implementation becomes increasingly important to understand how these routes work in practice and how their performance can be assessed.

During this demonstration day, experts from Wageningen Food & Biobased Research (WFBR) will introduce participants to two key end-of-life routes for plastics: mechanical recycling and biodegradation.

The event combines short theoretical presentations with guided facility tours and live demonstrations, providing a unique opportunity to learn how these end-of-life routes are assessed and applied in practice.

Participants will gain insight into the technologies, practical testing methodologies and research facilities used to evaluate recyclability and biodegradability performance, while also exploring the opportunities and limitations of different end-of-life strategies.

From fundamental concepts to real-life testing facilities, this demonstration day offers a complete overview of where we stand today and where future developments may lead.

Wageningen Food & Biobased Research, Wageningen University and M2i innovation cordially invite you to join this interactive demonstration day dedicated to the end-of-life (EoL) routes for plastics.

Why participate?

  • Gain a practical understanding of the main end-of-life routes for plastic products.

  • Learn the fundamentals of mechanical recycling and biodegradation and discover how it is assessed in practice.

  • Explore WFBR's state-of-the-art facilities and testing capabilities.

  • Identify opportunities for innovation, product development and collaborative research

There will be ample opportunity for questions, discussion and networking throughout the event.
