About the event

Dear all,

We are delighted to welcome you to the 19th EUCARPIA Meeting on Genetics and Breeding of Capsicum and Eggplant, which will take place in Wageningen, the Netherlands, from 20–23 September 2026.

The conference starts in a few days, and we are very much looking forward to welcoming more than 150 participants from around the world. Everything is ready for an inspiring few days of scientific exchange, discussion and networking.

The abstract book is now available , so you can download it and have an overview of all oral- and poster- presentations.

Our scientific programme covers a broad range of topics, including plant genetic resource management, gene editing, breeding for abiotic stress and resilience, fruit quality and metabolomics, new phenotyping tools and data analysis, and breeding for disease and insect resistance.

In addition to the scientific programme, we are pleased to offer you the opportunity to discover some of the state-of-the-art research facilities at Wageningen University & Research. A number of excursions have been organised to high-tech research facilities on and around the Wageningen Campus, offering an insight into the research and innovation taking place in the Netherlands.

We will start on Sunday 20 September with pre-registration, followed by an inspiring keynote lecture by Hidde Boersma. Hidde is a Dutch science journalist, essayist and documentary maker, with a particular interest in agriculture, biotechnology and bioethics. The keynote will be followed by drinks, providing an opportunity to meet fellow participants and start the conference in an informal atmosphere.

Last but not least, we hope you will also find some time to enjoy Wageningen and the Netherlands. Whether you explore the canals of Amsterdam, visit the iconic 18th-century windmills of Kinderdijk, discover our beautiful national parks, admire works by Dutch masters such as Rembrandt and Van Gogh, or visit the small but beautiful city of Wageningen, we hope your stay will be both scientifically rewarding and enjoyable.
