Excursions and 5K run/walk
Excursions and 5K run/walk on August 4, 2026
We invite you to participate in the Excursion program, where we offer a variety of activities in smaller groups. For some options there might be limited possibilities and we work with a first come first get basis. The options are described below.
We designed various combinations of excursions, combining two excursion options or an excursion with the 5K run/walk.
The 5K run/walk and some excursions can also be chosen as individual options. See the overview at the end of this page.
For those going on an excursion, a Tuesday lunch box is essential, as there is no option to get lunch elsewhere close to the venue.
Those only doing the 5k run/walk or not participating in the Tuesday afternoon programm, can decide to opt out for lunch boxes.
Please, indicate this accordingly in the registration form.
Due to logistics, booking of excursions is only possible till April 30 .
At the very end of this page suggestions for private sightseeing are also given.
5K run/walk
Start at 16.30h. The meeting point is at the sports hall on the Weberstraat 2. Showers and changing rooms are also available there.
The route is a paved walking path and takes you around the Zuiderplas, past the city beach and over the Pettelaarse Schans.
The Zuiderplas is within walking distance of the city center, but bus transportation is also provided. The event is both for runners and for participants that enjoy walking.
The 5K fee includes the purchase of a conference T-shirt.
You can register for the 5K as stand alone or as part of an excursion program. See, further below on this page.
Excursion options
1. Guided walk historic city (1.5 hrs)
Start 14:00h and 15:00h
Accompanied by a guide, you will take a walk through the historic city center. You will see the Market Square, the Binnendieze, old fortifications, and stately buildings. The guide will take you through charming streets and tell you what makes 's-Hertogenbosch so special.
2. Guided walk historic city & St. John's Cathedral (2 hrs)
Start 14:00h and 15:00h
This is a similar walk as in option 1, but combined with a visit to St. John's Cathedral. This Gothic church is famous for it's flying buttresses covered with statues of people, animals, and monsters. The guide will show you the outside and inside of the church and tell you the stories behind the details.
3. Guided walk Old fortress (2 hrs)
Start 14:00h
For seven centuries, 's-Hertogenbosch was a fortified city. Thick walls protected the city from enemies and from the water. That defensive function is still visible today. The guide will take you past old city walls and tell you about bows and arrows, cannons, and clever water defenses. You will hear the story of the siege of 1629, when Frederick Henry managed to conquer the city. A visit to the Bastionder, with a short movie and the impressive medieval cannon De Boze Griet, brings the past to life.
4. Boat tour 'Binnendieze' (50 min)
Start times throughout the afternoon.
Historical boat tour on the Binnendieze, the old canal system running through the city, partly under streets and buildings. Explore the city from below on an electric boat. The guide will explain the importance of this unique water system for the city.
5. Boat tour Hertogstad (1.5 hrs)
Start 15:10h and 15:25h
Electric boattour inside and outside the city walls.
The Hertogstad route shows you the city from two sides: the rugged exterior and the idyllic interior.
From the Bolwerk Sint-Jan, you sail along the Dommel past the impressive city walls and through the old inner harbor, where thousands of ships once unloaded their cargo. A skipper tells a good story about this rich trading history.
...then you transfer to an electric boat and discover the city's hidden waterways. You sail under centuries-old buildings and see the city from a unique perspective.
6. Famous 'Bossche Bollen' workshop (1.5 hrs)
Starts at 14:00h or 16:00h
Get to work with the chocolate and whipped cream yourself.
In addition to the technique, you will also learn more about the history of this Bossche delicacy.
Afterwards, you can take your homemade Bossche bollen home with you or enjoy them on the spot. Of course, you will receive the Bossche bol recipe afterwards. Coffee and tea are included.

Walk in nature around Den Bosch;
The Bossche Broek and the Moerputten
The Bossche Broek is Den Bosch's largest and greenest pride and joy. Walk a beautiful route through this amazing nature reserve and enjoy the narrow roads, paths, and bridges surrounded by greenery. From the city center, you can walk into this unspoiled piece of nature within a few minutes. Take a walk around the Zuiderplas, continue on to Vught, or take the Moerasdraak pedestrian ferry. This will take you across the Dommel from the Bossche Broek to the Buurt restaurant.

The Moerputten is the marshland area west of the city. If you fancy a good walk, it's easy to get there from the center. You can walk straight into this nature reserve via the modern Paleiskwartier district. This unique place is a legacy of the shoe industry in the village of Waalwijk. The old railway bridge, which is over a kilometer long, gives it a mystical feeling. Walk straight through the unique marshland, with water lilies in summer and misty fields in autumn. It is one of the few lowland peat bogs in Brabant.
