Awards​

The Society for Invertebrate Pathology offers support for students, early career scientists, and scientists from lower income countries to participate in the annual meetings.

IMPORTANT: All award applicants also need to register and submit their abstract(s) separately to the meeting organization via this website.

Which awards are available for participants?

1. Students (PhD, MSc, BSc) can apply for Division travel awards, which will be evaluated by SIP jurors in spring and recipients will usually be notified early May. The deadline for this type of award is April 1, 2026. All applicants for Division travel awards who are submitting an oral presentation will also be considered for the Mauro Martignoni Award.

2. Students can also compete for the Best Student Oral or Best Student Poster Presentation at the annual meetings. This opportunity is automatically open to all student presenters, including recipients of Division travel awards.

3. Scientists (including students and post-docs) from lower income countries are eligible to apply for the Chris J. Lomer Memorial Award. The deadline for this award is April 1, 2026.

4. Scientists in the early stage of their career (including post-docs) may apply for the Early Career Award if they fulfill the criteria. Please note that from this year on, self-nominations are also possible. The deadline for this award is March 15, 2026. Please be aware: if you applied and did not get the Early Career Award, you are allowed to apply again, if you still qualify.
