We cordially invite you to be a part of a crucial step in shaping the future of our organisation. Join us for the presentation of the draft WLR Strategic Plan 2024-2027.

Date: 13 December 2023

Time: 15:00 - 17:00

Advancing the role of animals in agro-ecosystems

Animal science has a lot to offer on global challenges. Climate is changing, biodiversity is waning, land is needed for both agriculture and nature, animal welfare is key. At the same time, the growing world population increases the demand for animal source food and (animal) proteins. The Wageningen Livestock Research knowledge of animals related to agro-ecosystems will stay in high demand.

However, we are aware that change is necessary. Food systems will no longer threaten the climate, biodiversity and animal welfare. We aim to be the go-to partner for knowledge on animals and agro-ecosystems, nationally and internationally. Our mission is to explore the potential of nature to improve the quality of life. We focus on global food security, a dignified existence for animals and a circular agri-food system that contribute to healthy ecosystems.

In the next years we will be challenged to be innovators and expertise leaders on these global challenges, while simultaneously reduce the impacts on climate change, the environment and biodiversity. And to design regenerative concepts that will even restore nature and sequester carbon. We work on priorities like developing animal centered livestock systems where animals experience positive emotions and animal well-being is secured

The role of animals is more important than ever. Wageningen Livestock Research’s knowledge of animals related to agro-ecosystems will play a crucial role.

Will you join our meeting on December 13th and participate in one of the parallel sessions? This meeting is not just about information-sharing; it's an opportunity for you to actively engage in the process. You can delve into meaningful dialogues on three topics and discuss how we plan to implement these into our organisation:

1.    Ethical and societal considerations in animal science
2.    Putting strategic themes in motion
3.    Future facilities for animal science

Your insights matter, and your feedback is of great value for us. We would like to hear your thoughts, ideas, and suggestions to collaboratively shape the path forward for WLR.

Please note that this meeting is not hybrid.
